Thomas, mason of this place, was fixing scaffolding at the church, in order to do some repairs necessary to the clock. The figures on the face of the church clock having become nearly obliterated from age. A wing to which he was fastening it gave way, thus precipitating him backwards with great force to the ground, a distance of over fifty feet. After lingering for about twenty fur hours without speaking, he died, leaving a wife and two children to deplore the sad event.
