This is an 18th century house with a symmetrical front of painted brick, and with a modillion eaves cornice. The windows and door have been modernised. This house is interesting, as it may have been the vicarage in the 18th century. This belief is strengthened by Hasted's description of Elham, (Vol. VIII, p. 96, 1799) in which he says' .... The church, with the vicarage on the side of the churchyard, is situated on the eastern side of the village.' The site of the village pound, where stray animals were kept, may still be seen on the opposite corner to this house. Elham Study
